I have a passion for life, for my religion, for the goodness of life. Through all this, it has uplifted my soul, & made me stronger emotionally & spiritually.

I thought I would share with you, as well as my own random thoughts, testimony builders, a few funnies and so forth to also give you the same opportunity.

I do hope that you enjoy this blog... and feel free to comment ~ preferably positive thoughts, as this is what this blog is all about.

Meridian Magazine :: Family Home Evening: Having Christ in Your Countenance

I have seen this before, probably have done it in Young Woman's at one time, but I think it is a great teaching tool. In fact, I think we might just do that with Hunter next FHE. Tonight, I'd like to focus on the true meaning of Easter.

This is amazing! This is motivating! This is a reminder to count our blessings in our life! This is a reminder when life feels like it isn't getting any better, to remember to never give up, to remember the life is a gift, that life is absolutely wonderful! Trials are for a short time, if we choose to work through them and come out for the better!

This reminds me a lot of the movie "Fireproof" and the book that originated from the movie, "The Love Dare." Love is definitely a choice.

Relief Society Birthday

The Relief Society was founded by the Prophet Joseph Smith in 1842 in Nauvoo, Illinois. The Relief Society serves under the direction of the priesthood. It assists priesthood leaders to help sisters and their families come unto Christ. It helps each sister and their families receive all essential priesthood ordinances, keep the associated covenants, and qualify for exaltation and eternal life.

The following objectives support the purpose of Relief Society:

1. Build faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His Atonement.
2. Uphold, nourish, and protect families.
3. Provide Relief.

All women 18 years and older as well as women younger than 18 who are married or are single mothers, are welcomed into the sisterhood of Relief Society.

The motto is "Charity Never Faileth".

I Was Really Here

"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautiful tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with grass stains on my shoes from mowing Sister Schenk's lawn. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt form making sandwiches for a sick neighbor's children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my nails from helping weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheek and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived. "
— Marjorie Pay Hinckley

I absolutely love Marjorie Hinckley and miss her wit and insight. This is one of my favorite quotes from her, including the one where she says something along the lines of choosing laughter over crying, because crying gives her a headache. Choices can make or break us, sometimes they break us for a little bit and we are made to our fullest potential in the end, but it is the choices that get us there. It's also about changing our perception to see how blessed we really are, leaving the wants behind and cherishing what we have in the here and now. I know, as I have seen it in my own life and others, that when we do our part that the Lord expects of us, hopes of us, He in turn can do His part and bless us in ways that we never thought possible. I love being a mom, and am grateful for the opportunity that I can be a mom after the many challenges I have faced with several miscarriages and coming to a point that I thought that I would never have this blessing in my life. I have my days, as everyone does of pulling my hair out --- maybe that is where all my gray comes from. But nevertheless, I do enjoy the life that has been given to me and do my best to make the choices that like Marjorie Hinckley, I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived.

Meridian Magazine : : Rescuing Wayward Children: Learning about Forgiveness from Job

Meridian Magazine : : Rescuing Wayward Children: Learning about Forgiveness from Job

Forgiveness is an amazing part of life, even when we may feel like the person you're needing to forgive doesn't deserve it. Everyone should be forgiven, no one is perfect, we all make mistakes, even if this person has made choices in their life that may affect the rest of your life, forgiveness is a must. God expects us to forgive, so that we may be forgiven of our own shortcomings.

I know that for me, I have had to forgive many people throughout my life. Some instances were a lot harder than others, and some have taken a lengthy amount of time - but being in the process vs. not being in the process is better in that you're working on improvement. I also know that forgiveness will set you free in so many ways, moving forward to higher ground.

Have you ever found that if you're holding a grudge, it truly just affects you more than the person you're holding the grudge against? Forgive them. The atonement is there for all of us, take it upon yourself and you will feel a sense of newness in your life. I know that I have many times over.

Meridian Magazine :: Articles : The Awesome Promise of the Brain in Our Spiritual Future

Meridian Magazine :: Articles : The Awesome Promise of the Brain in Our Spiritual Future

I love this article because it really makes me reflect on asking the question - what am I doing to add the goodness of God in every way I can to my mind? I do think this is an important aspect in ones life, in how we reflect upon our trials, our triumphs, how we make choices in our lives. So, what are you doing to increase the spiritual nourishment of your mind? What can you take out of your days that might be dampening the spiritual nourishment? All great questions to think about, to act upon, and to strengthen yourself!

The Power of Prayer

My boys and I were in AZ last week for my niece's wedding. The night before we were to fly out, I was packing and realized that I hadn't seen my oldest son's stuffed animal kitty. I recruited all the nieces and nephews to help search the house, and we looked in ever nook and cranny several times, coming up with nothing. With Hunter (my oldest) being on the verge of tears, I told him there was one last thing we could do - pray. Hunter said a sweet little prayer summoning Heavenly Father to please help him to find his kitty. Less than 5 minutes later, Hunter found his kitty in a spot that was looked at several times but the kitty never was seen there. What a great experience to plant a testimony seed in his life. My nephew, Ryan and I said "we should have prayed 30 minutes ago." We probably should have, but this was a great teaching moment nevertheless.

Something I noticed on my sister's fridge says this: ASAP - Always Say A Prayer. I think that is a great reminder that no matter what situation we are in, whether it be a trial, or a joyous occasion, or to simply find something that you're looking for, like Hunter's kitty - we should remember ASAP - Always Say A Prayer.

Small and Simple Thing

"Think about your particular assignment at this time in your life. It may be to get an education, it may be to rear children, it may be to be a grandparent, it may be to care for an relieve the suffering of someone you love, it may be to do a job in the most excellent way possible, it may be to support someone who has a difficult assignment of their own. Our assignments are varied and they change from time to time. Don't take them lightly. Give them your full heart and energy. Do them with enthusiasm. Do whatever you have to do this week with your whole heart and soul. To do less than this will leave you with an empty feeling."
— Marjorie Pay Hinckley (Small and Simple Things)
